Big Top is always looking for people interested in volunteering, each summer over 150 volunteers support our operations.
To sign up to volunteer with Big Top fill out the volunteer application below. Once we have received the volunteer application, we will send information about how to access our online sign-up forms. You will be able to request to volunteer for shows as they are put on sale to the public.

Please fill out this application for the upcoming season. Once we receive your application, we will contact you about the your preferences for both volunteer job and shows. There will be detailed instructions sent to you via email or mail for you to start planning your summer. The master volunteer calendar will be compiled in May. VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Ambassadors: These volunteers work in Bayfield Ticket Booth greeting tourists and answering questions about Big Top and assist patrons in purchasing tickets through the main office or on-line.
Friends of the Big Top Raffle/Information Tent: Volunteers work with Big Top staff and board members in the Friends of Big Top Tent (formerly the Keeper’s Raffle Tent). Share your knowledge of Big Top and the local area with our patrons and assist in the sale of raffle tickets. This will be on show afternoons in Bayfield.
Big Top Chautauqua Gift Shop: Assist Big Top patrons with purchasing merchandise.
Parking Lot: Direct patrons to areas for handicapped, staff, VIP parking areas, etc.
Ushers: Help with patron seating, audience direction and with passing out programs.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Volunteers: Provide first-aid assistance for patrons. We require first-aid volunteers to provide copies of their current certification at the level of EMT -B or higher. First-Aid volunteers roam through the crowds throughout the evening. Radio will be provided for contact with House Manager/ Operations Manager.
Security: Security volunteers are positioned at the back stage entrances, dressing room and performance area. performer entrance.
Tour Host: Meet & greet tour groups/buses and explain amenities at the tent.
Handicap Welcome & Transfer: Meet and greet handicapped patrons and assist them in getting to the tent with golf cart.
Office & Miscellaneous: Assist Big Top staff members with various office tasks and mailings.
Stage & Performer Volunteer needs: Security, runners who take guest artists to and from the tent or pick up items for them. Provide transportation locally to hotels etc. Stage hands will help with load in and load out. Provide transportation from Duluth airport and back. Assist the caterer with hospitality. Assist with costumes and stage props.
Entertaining/Special Events: Work with staff and board members on events and projects.
Ticket Takers: Assist Big Top staff at lower gate with welcoming patrons, assist patrons picking-up tickets at Will Call, checking and collecting tickets to performances.
